My Search for a Natural Deodorant

Updated: Jan 13, 2023

Fresh, Clean and Green!

I get asked frequently about what products I use, specifically deodorant. Over the past 7 years I have probably tried 10-15 different natural deodorant options. I wanted only two things from my deodorant, safe ingredients and to reduce sweat/odor. Unfortunately, this was a larger challenge than I realized when I set out on this mission. Even though it took a long time, I kept at it and learned a few important tips about natural deodorant along the way. What you need to know about natural deodorant: 1) Everyone is unique when it comes to how they will respond to natural deodorant. Many kinds will work for some, but not for others. Be careful, as some can even irritate/burn the skin. (I found those with baking soda to be irritating). 2) Part of why you may smell is not actually from your sweat, it is from your sweat reacting to synthetic fabric. When you wear cotton you will be much less likely to smell. Who knew? 3) Salt water works surprisingly well. I noticed while on vacation at the beach that I really did not need any deodorant as long as swam in the ocean. There are some sea salt water deodorants you can buy, but you might as well make it yourself! The Conclusion: Deodo Mom works like magic and only has two ingredients (water and magnesium hydroxide)! I love it. (Just don't forget to shake it before you use it). It has passed my test with flying colors. Looking for more recommendations from me? I have a new tab on my website to let you know about some of my most favorite products.
