Since the pandemic started it feels like time has been moving faster and faster. When life moves quickly, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed. All the more reason for us to slow down, simplify and refocus on what really matters to us this year. Whether we feel like setting new year's resolutions or not, the start of a new year is generally a good time to evaluate where you are and where you are hoping to go. There is a lot said about how new year's resolutions don't work, but I think that has more to do with the fact that making meaningful change is HARD no matter when we do it and that we tend to overload ourselves with too many goals. As humans, we are often under the spell of complexity bias, which basically means thinking that complex solutions are better than simple ones. But this is often not the case, and can just create more overwhelm in the sensitive system. I find that for highly sensitive people, when we focus on simplicity, we can gain the strength and clarity we need to achieve our goals. This has certainly been the case for me. I used to set so many goals I couldn't keep track of them. This year I am focusing on just two and that feels like a huge relief. My intention for January's live classes is to help you focus on simplicity, both in yoga and in life. My next live class will be Flow Yoga, Tuesday 1/10 at 12pm EST.
